Back Pain

Back Pain Physical Therapy

Back pain is a common issue that affects most people at some point in their life.  While most people recover quickly on their own, some experience more long-term chronic pain. Some may even require surgery.

There is a great deal of evidence to support the benefits of physical therapy both before and after back surgery. In general, PT is one of the most effective treatments for lower back pain. Physical therapy can help provide strength and stability which can help shorten recovery time after surgery. The movement and strengthening exercises given by a physical therapist can help reduce your pain, teach you proper body mechanics and prevent reoccurrence. This is why PT is considered an important part of most back-pain patients’ treatment plans.

Your course of physical therapy will start with a one-on-one consolation where your therapist will establish your goals and develop a personalized treatment plan to help manage your specific symptoms. Treatment usually includes a combination of passive and active modalities such as:

Core training and strengthening is also an important part of treating back problems. Having a strong core can help retribute body weight and reduce stress on the back.

The therapists at Reddy Care Physical & Occupational can help restore function, improve range-of-motion, and reduce pain. To find out more about the treatment options we have available, give us a call. Get started with a consultation today!
