Can Stress Cause Physical Pain?

Stress is when you are feeling overwhelmed or unable to cope with mental, physical or emotional pressure. Everyone experiences stress and deals with it differently. Different life events and situations can cause stress. Stress can be positive or negative depending on the situation. Positive stress (eustress) may include weddings, holidays and pregnancies while negative stress (distress) may include divorce, money and jobs. However, too much stress can affect our physical health.

Some daily strategies may help you or a loved one cope with stress. Daily strategies that help prevent stress factors may include relaxation activities like yoga, meditation, tai chi and breathing exercises. It is important to take good care of your body by eating well balanced meals, exercising to help release endorphins and getting enough sleep to make sure your body has time to help repair itself.
