How to help your hip pain

The hip is a large ball and socket joint which allows mobility for us to walk and run. When the hip is injured it can cause discomfort and pain. Hip pain is a condition that limits your mobility, leading to limping, loss of motion, and more.

Conditions that commonly cause hip pain include hip dislocations, hip fractures, arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, strains, labral tears and certain cancers. Hip pain treatments will depend on the underlying cause or condition. If you are experiencing hip pain, you may be feeling discomfort in your thigh, groin, buttocks, or outside & inside the hip joint. Hip pain may be addressed with rest, heat and ice applications and over the counter pain medications while more serious conditions may need physical therapy and/or surgery.

Physical therapy can help reduce pain and improve function in your hip. Physical therapists at Reddy Care Physical & Occupational Therapy are highly skilled in diagnosing and treating hip pain. After an injury or surgery, a rehabilitation program can help you regain strength, restore flexibility, and improve the range of motion in your hips.

Some effective hip rehabilitation treatments include:

At Reddy Care Physical & Occupational Therapy, the physical therapists use diagnostic techniques, X-ray, gait evaluation, functional mobility tests, and range of motion tests. Once your physical therapist knows what is causing your hip pain, they can design an individualized rehabilitation program that allows you to return to your normal activities as soon as possible. If you or a family member is experiencing hip pain, call our office to learn more and schedule an appointment.
