Scoliosis is a condition in which you are diagnosed with a sideways curvature in the spine. Most cases of scoliosis are mild but severe scoliosis may occur. It is important to catch scoliosis early on to help give you time to correct the curve before it becomes severe. Scoliosis can develop during growth spurts before and after puberty but can also occur at any age. The causes of scoliosis aren’t always clear but can be connected to injuries, muscular dystrophy, or cerebral palsy. 

Signs and symptoms of Scoliosis may include:

• Uneven shoulders 
• Back pain
• Trouble standing up straight
• Uneven waist
• Noticeable ribs that stick out on one side
• Difficulty breathing
• Pain and numbness 
• Muscle weakness

Scoliosis treatments vary depending on the severity of the curve. Patients with moderate to severe scoliosis may also need other treatment which may include surgeries. In mild cases, physical therapy treatment is highly recommended to help correct and manage the condition.
