No Fear, No Falls, Just Rehab
Patients start vestibular rehabilitation because they want to improve their balance, mobility, confidence and day to day activities. Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise program which helps to improve balance and reduce problems related to dizziness while better managing and decreasing motion sensitivity and vertigo.
Dizziness symptoms may be defined as
- Spinning
- Feeling unsteadiness
- Feeling lightheaded
- Imbalance or need to hold onto objects when walking
- Blurry vision with head movements
- Wooziness
- Swaying
“Symptoms due to vestibular disorders can diminish quality of life and can impact all aspects of life from economic to social participation as well as can contribute to emotional problems, like anxiety and depression. Additionally, one of the consequences of having a vestibular disorder is that the symptoms frequently cause people to adopt a sedentary lifestyle in order to avoid bringing on, or worsening, dizziness and imbalance that occurs with movement. As a result, decreased muscle strength and flexibility, increased joint stiffness, and reduced stamina can occur from this lifestyle.”
Vestibular rehabilitation may be recommended if you are diagnosed with dizziness, imbalance, increase in falls, vertigo, BPPV, migraines, strokes and Meniere’s syndrome. Reddy Care’s physical and occupational therapists are movement experts. Your physical therapist will evaluate your symptoms and provide you with vestibular rehabilitation exercises. These exercises may include posture training, balance, stretching exercises, strengthening exercises, walking, neck mobility, general fitness, and vision stability training.
Reddy Care Physical, Occupational and Aquatic Therapy offers state of the art equipment. The Solo Step is designed to prevent patients from falling while also aiding and encouraging their balance.
