Occupational Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?

The American Occupational Therapy Association states “Occupational therapy is the only profession that helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.”

Occupational therapy (OT) teaches you how to adapt. An occupational therapist can train you on how to adapt your movements (reaching, eating, getting dressed..) or do tasks in a new way to help you complete the activity the most efficiently and with the least amount of pain. Did you know Reddy Care offers In-Home Occupational therapy?
Check out this In-Home Occupational Therapy success story from one of our patients: "I was receiving occupational therapy from Reddy Care to help me with my hands and arms, I have arthritis and stenosis.  I had difficulty lifting my arms because my shoulders are stiff and my fingers are both numb and stiff.  Rita Levey, OTR/L has helped me with my pain and stiffness.  We also work on my standing balance, so that I do not fall when I am reaching in drawers and cabinets.  She brings activities and equipment to work on my fine motor skills, to strengthen my shoulders and to improve my balance.  I am able to reach further and use my hands better.  I am very satisfied with my occupational therapy, the service is excellent!"
