Simple Tips to Relieve Your Headaches!
Many people suffer from headaches. You may experience headaches at any age.
Try the following tips to help manage your headaches:
- Ease pressure on your head: your headaches may be caused by external compression. It's important to remember that headbands, hair scrunchies and hats may be worn too tight and may cause too much pressure on your head leading to headaches.
- Cold packs: Using cold packs on your forehead will help relieve your headaches. Cold packs help to reduce inflammation in the brain reducing the pain.
- Stay hydrated: Dehydration will cause you to experience more headaches and even make the pain worse. It is important to remember to drink plenty of fluids.
- Turn the lights off: If you have a headache or feel one coming on, dim the lights. Your eyes may become sensitive to the light and specific lighting may cause headaches.
- Relaxation techniques: Daily stretches, yoga, massages and meditation may help to relieve the pain caused by headaches.
- Posture: Poor posture may lead to tension in your upper back, neck and shoulders causing headaches. Long periods of sitting and using technology can affect your posture, neck pain and headaches.
- Use over the counter medications: If you decide to take over the counter medications make sure to speak with your doctor first and follow the instructions on the bottle. We do not prescribe medication at Reddy Care.
- Get a physical therapy consultation: If your headaches are persistent or worsening, it may be time to see a physical therapist. Your physical therapist will help you determine the best treatments to help relieve your pain.
