Speed Up Your Recovery with Massage Therapy

Speed Up Your Recovery with Massage Therapy

Did you know that therapeutic massage can be delivered by a physical therapist? That’s right, massage isn’t just reserved for fancy spas. Massage therapy is used effectively in conjunction with other treatments to help you heal and relieve pain.

Massage therapy can be used to target specific tissues in your body including muscles, fascia, lymph nodes, joints, and tendons.  Anyone from professional athletes to seniors can benefit from massage therapy. It is safe for almost anyone at any age. Some specific benefits of massage include:

This can be used to treat a variety of conditions like fibromyalgia, back and neck pain, arthritis, sports and auto-related injuries, and many more.  Your therapist will start with an evaluation and determine the best course of treatment, and if massage therapy should be included in your program. Massage therapy is just one of the many techniques therapists are trained in to ease your recovery.

Treatments are normally categorized as active or passive. Passive include treatments like the massage above, and other healing methods such as electrical stimulation and ultrasound. Active treatments are, as the title suggests, more active. Active treatments will involve the patient performing specific actions like exercises and stretches, helping you improve your flexibility and strength.  A therapist will usually incorporate a combination of active and passive treatments to get you back to full health and function.

At Reddy Care Physical and Occupational Therapy, we can get you set up with the right therapist for you. Call today to schedule a consultation!
