What is Worksteps

Worksteps

Reddy Care Physical, Occupational, and Aquatic Therapy is a WorkSTEPS provider, offering work hardening programs to help you get back to work. Work hardening is concerned with strengthening certain body components and improving physical performance. The basic goal of work hardening is to get you in peak physical condition for performing your job so you can return with a significantly lower chance of harm.

"Each company that is associated with worksteps has protocols that we follow," says Dr. Eric Bayer, PT, DPT at Reddy Care. It assesses overall strength and flexibility as well as job-specific skills to ensure that candidates are capable of executing the duties necessary."

Who can benefit from work hardening

To ensure that you can meet the standards, your Reddy Care physical therapist will create a WorkSTEPS program based on the duties you perform at work. For example, if you hurt your back lifting heavy objects at work, your physical therapist may give you weights to lift while using proper form, or if you're a truck driver and struggle lifting yourself up to get in, your physical therapist may give you exercises to strengthen your legs, arms, and core.

The WorkSTEPS program focuses on workouts and activities that will help your body prepare to return to work. It contains exercises for muscle strength and flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, spine and joint stabilization, and job task training (pushing, pulling, kneeling, lifting, bending, sitting, or twisting).

It is critical that you return to work pain-free and confident that you can do your job well. WorkSTEPS is a program provided by Reddy Care Physical, Occupational, and Aquatic Therapy at our Farmingdale site.

At Reddy Care Physical and Occupational Therapy, we can get you set up with the right therapist for you. Call today to schedule a consultation!
