Wrist fracture

A wrist fracture refers to a distal radius fracture or a Colles' fracture. It occurs when one or more of the large wrist bones fracture or crack. Specifically, a broken wrist occurs when the larger bone in the forearm is fractured where it connects to the bones of the hand on the side of the thumb.

Below are the common symptoms of a broken wrist:

• Pain, particularly when flexing or moving the wrist
• Swelling and tenderness
• Bruising
• Wrist deformation, also known as dinner fork deformity, wherein the wrist looks bent
