Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis Physical Therapy

Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much bone, makes too little bone, or a combination of the two.  Osteoporotic bones have lost density or mass, causing the bone to weaken.

While fairly common, osteoporosis is nonetheless serious. Weakened bone means an increased risk of fractures and serious injuries. In addition to causing pain and potential loss of mobility, osteoporosis can also affect height and posture.  For seniors, this can be especially worrisome, and care should be taken to prevent falls.

Physical therapy is an excellent way to prevent or help combat the effects of osteoporosis. Taking into account your age, overall health, fitness level, and personal risk factors, your physical therapist will develop a program to help you regain strength. Here are some ways physical therapy is an effective non-surgical treatment to manage osteoporosis.

Your physical/occupational therapist will take care to prevent further deterioration and falls. If you are suffering from the effects of osteoporosis, contact Reddy Care Physical & Occupational therapy. We have a team of physical and occupational therapists ready to assist. They will create a program to keep you safe and functional. Call us today to get started with a consultation!
