Shoulder Rehabilitation

Shoulder Rehabilitation

Shoulder pain can be debilitating for many and can be a symptom of many different issues. Very commonly it is caused by overuse, injury, or strain.  An intricate combination of muscles and tendons keep your arm bone centered in your shoulder socket; when these get torn or inflamed it can be painful. Treatment of shoulder pain and injury can greatly vary, sometimes all that is needed is some rest and light icing of the injured area. In other cases, physical therapy and shoulder rehabilitation may be needed to help you regain the use of your shoulder.

Shoulder rehabilitation is a type of treatment you can receive to help recover after surgery or injury. It consists of targeted shoulder exercises and stretches to help improve range of motion and regain strength. This can be a key first step to reduce pain and accelerate healing. On top of stretching and exercise, treatments like laser therapy can be used to heal damaged tissue, ultrasound technology can also be effective in stimulating the healing process. There are a variety of techniques a physical therapist can use to get you back on track.

Physical therapy can be vital in some cases in preventing frozen shoulder. This is a condition that can occur after a period of immobility, like after a surgery, where abnormal bands of tissue around the shoulder start to build up making the shoulder “freeze” or not move as freely.

Why suffer in pain and discomfort when physical therapy has the tools to reduce your shoulder pain and get you back to continue those everyday activities you love doing. Reddy Care Physical and Occupational Therapy have helped many patients recover after surgery or injury. Call today to make an appointment with one of our expert physical therapists.
